Terrifying Moment Bear Attacks Car on Hokkaido Road
A woman escaped unharmed after a bear and its cub emerged from the darkness and violently attacked her vehicle.
A woman in Japan's Hokkaido island narrowly escaped injury when a bear emerged from the roadside darkness and attacked her car. The incident occurred Tuesday evening as the woman was driving home from work.
The dashcam footage captured the moment a large bear, believed to be the mother, appeared alongside its cub. The driver stopped her vehicle, fearing a collision, which then prompted the bear to charge.
The bear began pounding on the car's hood and biting the metal as the woman locked her doors, fearing for her safety. The vehicle shook violently from the impact, and the driver reported hearing the bear's growls.
After the attack, the car's hood was severely dented and bore deep claw marks, with holes punched through the metal. Despite the frightening encounter, the woman was unharmed. She was able to drive the damaged car to the nearest police station to report the incident.
Authorities have issued warnings to drivers to remain vigilant, particularly on rural roads after dark, due to increased wildlife activity.
