A 15-year-old boy has been charged with murder after a fatal stabbing that police allege began as an argument over a hat. Zane Robson, 22, was found with stab wounds on Mann Street in Gosford, on the NSW Central Coast, on Tuesday evening around 7:30 p.m. He received treatment from paramedics at the scene before being transported to Gosford Hospital, where he later died.

Authorities arrested a 15-year-old boy and a 45-year-old woman at a home in Lake Haven early Saturday morning. The teenager has been charged with murder and was denied bail, scheduled to appear in Children's Bail Court. The woman faces a charge of hindering the apprehension of a person accused of committing a serious offense and appeared before the NSW Bail Division Court.

During the court hearing, the woman's solicitor stated that the incident originated from an argument concerning a hat, adding that police do not consider it gang-related. CCTV footage is reportedly available that could evidence the beginning of the dispute.

The woman was granted bail under the condition she remains at her Lake Haven address and reports to police weekly. Her case is set to return to Wyong Local Court on August 11.

Robson's family confirmed his identity earlier this week through a GoFundMe campaign, describing his death as a "senseless act of knife violence" that occurred on July 28, 2026. They expressed gratitude for the assistance provided by first responders and strangers to Robson in his final moments. A relative shared that Robson, who grew up with a love for motorbikes, was a kind and compassionate person despite facing personal struggles, and will be deeply missed. The GoFundMe aims to cover funeral costs and support his grieving family.
