Teen Volleyball Player Among Three Killed in Victoria Crash

A 14-year-old volleyball player has been identified as one of three people who died in a three-vehicle collision on the Western Highway in regional Victoria on Sunday. Tenesha Fieldsend was traveling in a Mitsubishi Triton that crashed near Ledcourt, approximately 200 kilometers northwest of Melbourne.

Fieldsend was en route home from the Volleyball Victoria Junior Country Championships in Horsham, where her team secured a bronze medal. She sustained critical injuries in the crash and later passed away at a hospital. The Latrobe Valley Volleyball club described Fieldsend as a "much-loved part of our sporting community" and noted her achievement at the competition as a "wonderful achievement to have shared with her teammates and a memory for them to treasure."

According to Detective Acting Sergeant Leigh Miller, the Triton collided with the side of a truck before hitting a third vehicle, an MG ZS SUV. Two occupants of the SUV were also killed in the incident. "It's the holiday period. It was getting late in the afternoon, traffic was really busy, people were heading home," Miller stated regarding the circumstances of the crash.
