A teacher from Sydney's Upper North Shore has been charged with multiple offenses, including recording intimate images without consent and possessing child abuse material, after allegedly filming female students on school grounds.

Police initiated an investigation after receiving reports that devices at a Hornsby property contained child abuse material. During a search of the residence on Tuesday, officers seized electronic devices.

Analysis of the devices allegedly revealed several recordings made at a school in Wahroonga, where the 61-year-old man was employed as a teacher. Further alleged footage on a USB drive depicted females in public places, as well as similar conduct within a school environment.

The man was taken to Hornsby Police Station after being discharged from hospital for assessment. He has been charged with five counts of intentionally recording an intimate image without consent, one count of producing child abuse material, and one count of possessing child abuse material.

He was refused bail and is scheduled to appear at Hornsby Local Court on November 18. The Daily Mail has contacted the NSW Department of Education for comment.
