A student opened fire at a school in Thailand on Friday, killing at least one teacher and injuring four others before taking his own life, authorities reported. The shooting occurred at Debsirin Nonthaburi School in the Bang Kruai district of Nonthaburi province, located north of Bangkok.
Authorities confirmed the casualties and the perpetrator's suicide to Reuters. Among the injured were one teacher and three students. The identity of the student gunman has not been released.
In the 2025 academic year, Debsirin Nonthaburi School had an enrollment of approximately 3,100 students and 147 teachers, according to district officials. Images circulated by emergency services showed students streaming out of the school building as ambulances arrived at the scene. One image depicted an individual lying on a stretcher outside an ambulance while receiving medical attention.
This incident follows a similar event in February of the 2025 academic year, when a teacher was killed and a student injured in a shooting at a school in Hat Yai district in southern Thailand.
