Storm Adam Claims at Least Four Lives in Southern France

At least four people have died and one person has been injured following severe flooding in southern France, brought on by Storm Adam. The storm inundated streets and disrupted transportation across the region on Tuesday.

Two women, aged 86 and 26, were found drowned in a cellar in the Bouches-du-Rhône region. In Corsica, a man died when his 4x4 vehicle was swept away by floodwaters. Authorities have not yet released details regarding the fourth fatality.

In the towns of Mouriès and Saint-Martin-de-Crau, located between Montpellier and Marseille, dozens of residents were moved to emergency shelters. One person sustained injuries in this area. Transport Minister Philippe Tabarot reported disruptions to roads and train lines.

"The water has risen to unprecedented levels," stated Jacques Witkowski, prefect of the Bouches-du-Rhône department, on Wednesday. He added that authorities are mobilized at an exceptional level to address the situation and expressed sympathy for those affected.
