Stabbing at Polish convent leaves one dead, four injured

One person was killed and four others were injured in a stabbing attack at a Catholic convent in southeastern Poland on Thursday, authorities reported. Police apprehended a suspect at the scene.

The incident occurred on the grounds of the abbey in Jarosław. Authorities received an alert about the stabbing around 9:30 a.m. local time. The victims, four men and one woman, were transported to a hospital. Three of the men sustained serious injuries, and one later died, according to the Polish news agency PAP.

Police identified the detained suspect as a 31-year-old foreign national. Authorities stated they were alerted to the stabbing by a Ukrainian citizen and are investigating the circumstances and potential motive behind the attack.
