Spain to Open £24 Million Inland Beach Resort in 2028
Alovera Beach, located 30 minutes from Madrid, will feature a 5.2-acre lagoon and 16,000 square meters of sand, aiming to attract 350,000 visitors annually.
A new £24 million ($29 million) artificial beach complex, Alovera Beach, is set to open in Spain in the summer of 2028, located approximately 200 miles inland from the coast. Situated just 30 minutes from Madrid, the development will boast a 5.2-acre lagoon surrounded by 16,000 square meters of white sand.
Billed as Europe's largest urban beach, the project is being undertaken by artificial-lagoon specialist Crystal Lagoons. The complex is designed to offer a seaside experience for visitors who are far from the natural coastline. In addition to the main lagoon, the site will include a water park with slides and children's pools, sports facilities, a water sports school for kayaking and paddleboarding, dining options, and a beach club.
Construction of the artificial beach in Guadalajara province has received the necessary permits, with an aim for completion by March 2028. The project is expected to create over 300 jobs and will be accessible via car, with more than 1,000 parking spaces available, as well as intercity bus routes.
The park is projected to have an entry fee of approximately €10 (£8.60) and anticipates attracting around 350,000 visitors annually. Crystal Lagoons, founded in 2007 by Fernando Fischmann, has previously developed record-breaking artificial lagoons, including a 19-acre lagoon in Chile and a 30-acre lagoon in Egypt.
Plans for the Alovera Beach project were first reported in 2022, and the complex is intended to be open year-round.
