A large-scale search operation is underway for Lily Hooper, an 18-year-old bushwalker who disappeared after setting off for a hike in New South Wales' Southern Highlands. Hooper was last seen leaving a residence on Burragorang Road in Oakdale, southwest of Sydney, at approximately 8 a.m. on Wednesday.

She had informed others of her intention to go hiking but has not been seen or heard from since. Police from The Hume Police District were notified and initiated inquiries into her whereabouts. Authorities and Hooper's family have expressed serious concerns for her welfare.

Following initial investigations, police located Hooper's vehicle near the Bonnum Pic Walking Trail within Nattai National Park. This discovery prompted a multi-agency search of the rugged terrain, involving NSW Police, NSW State Emergency Service (SES), and the Lifesaver 21 rescue helicopter crew.

The Lifesaver 21 crew conducted searches of various areas within the national park on Thursday, providing support to police rescue officers and SES volunteers on the ground. Police described Hooper as being of Caucasian appearance, approximately 175cm tall, with a slim build, long blonde hair, and blue eyes. She was last seen wearing a shirt and shorts.

Authorities are particularly interested in speaking with anyone who was on the Bonnum Pic Walking Trail on Wednesday or who may possess information regarding Hooper's location. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact Moss Vale Police Station at 02 4869 7899 or Crime Stoppers at 1800 333 000.
