Romanian Nationals Plead Guilty to Sex Offenses in Manchester

Two Romanian nationals have pleaded guilty to sex offenses in connection with the rape of a 14-year-old girl at a Manchester city center flat. Mario-Vifor Ratoiu, 23, admitted to raping the minor, while 26-year-old Mario-Alexandru Ratoiu pleaded guilty to engaging in sexual activity with a child.

Law enforcement officers responded to a property in the Green Quarter in April following reports of a rape. Both men were arrested and subsequently remanded into custody.

The prosecutor informed Manchester Crown Court that the plea to the lesser charge by the older defendant was acceptable. Both men entered their guilty pleas prior to a scheduled trial and are now awaiting sentencing on December 3.

Judge Sarah Johnston ordered pre-sentence reports to be prepared for both defendants, emphasizing the need for cooperation with the probation service to ensure all relevant information is available before sentencing.
