Twenty-seven people were trapped for more than three hours on the 'Wipeout' rollercoaster at Pleasurewood Hills in Lowestoft, Suffolk, after the ride broke down.

Firefighters were called to the scene shortly before 1:30 p.m. on August 31, 2026, and began a rescue operation using advanced height equipment. The carriages had stopped on the track approximately 50 feet in the air, though not upside down. Crews from three stations responded to the incident.

The Wipeout ride, which opened in 2007, is described as the tallest, fastest, and most extreme ride in East Anglia. It is noted as the only Vekoma Boomerang model in the country, featuring a lift hill followed by a cobra roll and a vertical loop.

Pleasurewood Hills has been contacted for comment regarding the incident.
