Two medical emergencies unfolded on a Jetstar flight from Cairns to Melbourne on August 16, requiring the intervention of medical professionals among the passengers. The three-hour journey, flight JQ33, was not diverted.

A passenger aboard the flight described the events to Melbourne radio host Jacqui Felgate, noting that the crew handled the situations with calmness and professionalism. The passenger highlighted the presence of "multiple angels" who came forward when the crew requested assistance from any medically trained individuals. One of these individuals was identified as a recently retired MICA (Mobile Intensive Care Ambulance) paramedic.

Another passenger, who stated they were one of the individuals who required medical attention, also expressed gratitude towards the flight staff and a nurse who provided help. "I was one of the passengers who required help on this flight. I would also like to acknowledge how nice and helpful the flight staff were," they communicated. "Also, big thanks to the kind nurse who helped me."

The flight ultimately landed in Melbourne as scheduled. One of the passengers who experienced a medical issue was met by an ambulance upon arrival. The passenger who initially relayed the events expressed well wishes for both individuals, stating, "Wishing both passengers a speedy recovery."
