Helicopters conducted a dramatic rescue of passengers stranded on the overturned hull of a ferry that capsized off North Cyprus on August 30. The incident occurred shortly after the catamaran departed Kyrenia, bound for Turkey.
Authorities confirmed that at least seven people died in the disaster, with 23 individuals still missing. A total of 237 people were rescued alive from the water and the capsized vessel. The cause of the ferry taking on water and subsequently capsizing remains under investigation. The vessel was carrying approximately 270 passengers and crew at the time of the incident.
