Einar Méndez, an internationally recognized bodybuilder and fitness trainer, died on September 4, 2026, following a sudden heart attack at a gym in Mexico City. He was 48.

Méndez was exercising when he suffered the fatal medical emergency, his wife, Yan, announced on social media. "He left suddenly, at the gym, doing what he loved most: working out," she wrote on Instagram, according to People. "Rest in peace, love of my life. Fly to the highest heights, and I promise we will meet again."

Méndez, a father of three, was described by his wife as "strong, resilient, kind." He boasted of being a national and international bodybuilding champion. His clientele included notable figures, such as Nicaraguan TV host Martha Debayle.

Debayle, who was coached by Méndez, shared that he had collapsed during his workout. She remembered him as a dedicated trainer who motivated many. "Einar was my coach, but he was also the coach of so many of you in ‘Sumer Body,’ and I know that it meant to so many. I know how much they wanted it, how much he pushed them, how much he made them deny, laugh, strike and discover that they could always be a little more," Debayle stated.

Prior to his death, Méndez had plans to visit the United States for the first time, with intentions to see the Miami Dolphins and explore New York. He is survived by his wife, Yan, and their three daughters.
