A devastating house fire in Queensland has resulted in the deaths of Leanne Laver, 62, and her longtime friend Phillip Gordon, 73.
The incident occurred at a residence where the owner, a father, made a harrowing attempt to rescue the victims. He reportedly ran back into the burning structure in an effort to save Laver but was unsuccessful. Both Laver and Gordon were subsequently found deceased within the home.
Emergency services responded to the scene, but the fire had already caused extensive damage. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
