Pug Jinny Lu has been crowned the World's Ugliest Dog for 2026, earning her owners $5,000 and a trip to the Today show. The six-year-old rescue pug, who was saved from the dog meat trade in South Korea, resides in Ukiah, California, and is noted for her peculiar habit of "arguing" with her own reflection.

The annual competition, held at the Sonoma-Marin Fair in Santa Rosa, California, saw a variety of canine contestants vie for the title. Jinny Lu ultimately clinched the top spot among the diverse group of dogs.

The event, which has been running for 50 years, emphasizes a lighthearted approach, stating on its website that the contest is not about making fun of dogs but rather having fun with unique individuals. Organizers aim to promote the advocacy and adoration of all animals, highlighting the benefits of adoption and showcasing the inherent beauty of these dogs.

Other notable contestants included Little Prince Wonder, a Chinese Crested, and Otto, a Chihuahua mix, both of whom competed at the fair. Pinky, an albino Pomeranian-Chihuahua mix, secured second place, winning $3,000. Clara, a 12-year-old Chinese Crested from Poland, and a dog named Zebuoodle were also among the participants.
