Prince Harry met with his father, King Charles III, at Clarence House in London on Wednesday in what Page Six described as their first in-person meeting in more than a year.
Photos obtained by Page Six showed the Duke of Sussex arriving at Clarence House at about 5:20 p.m. local time in a black SUV. Page Six reported the encounter lasted roughly 30 minutes and that Queen Camilla was also present. Harry’s representative did not immediately respond to a request for comment from the outlet.
The meeting was the first reported face-to-face contact between the king, 76, and his 40-year-old son since February 2024, when Charles announced he was undergoing treatment for cancer. The two have been estranged since the duke and his wife, Meghan, stepped back from senior royal duties in 2020 and relocated to California.
Harry had been in the United Kingdom earlier in the week for a string of public appearances. He attended the WellChild Awards and visited the burial site of his late grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II, on the anniversary of her death, and later visited an event in Nottingham and Imperial College London’s Centre for Blast Injury Studies. Reports that the pair might meet had circulated during Harry’s visit.
The relationship between Charles and Harry has been strained since the duke relinquished royal duties, and it deepened after Harry and Meghan’s public interviews and Harry’s 2023 memoir, in which he detailed personal disputes with his family. British media have reported periodic attempts at reconciliation; one source told The Mirror there was a renewed sense that a reconciliation between Charles and Harry might be possible, while adding that wider family issues had not been resolved.
King Charles was seen arriving in London on Wednesday after a stay at Balmoral Castle in Scotland and later made his way to Clarence House, according to photographs published alongside reporting of the visit.
There was no immediate indication that the meeting would lead to broader family reunions. Media coverage has suggested that Harry’s relationship with his elder brother, Prince William, remains distant. Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex, has not returned to the UK since attending the Queen’s funeral in 2022.
The brief Wednesday meeting represents the most recent public sign of contact between the duke and the monarch, but officials at Clarence House or Harry’s camp had not issued detailed statements about the purpose or outcome of the visit as of publication.
