Prince Harry met King Charles at Clarence House in London on Wednesday for a 30-minute face-to-face meeting, their first in more than a year, the New York Post reported. Queen Camilla was in attendance.

The meeting took place around 5:20 p.m. local time, when the Duke of Sussex, 40, was photographed arriving by car at his father’s London residence, the Post said. Harry had been in the U.K. for a series of engagements, including the WellChild Awards on Monday and a visit to Queen Elizabeth II’s grave in Windsor on the third anniversary of her death.

The visit followed a daytime stop at Imperial College London’s Centre for Blast Injury Studies, according to the Post. King Charles, 76, had flown back from Scotland after spending weeks at Balmoral Castle. Prince William, 43, did not take part in the meeting, and Meghan Markle remained in the United States with the couple’s two children, Archie, 6, and Lilibet, 4, the report said.

A source told the Post that the reunion was intended as a beginning rather than a resolution, saying, "Nobody is pretending the wider family issues have been resolved, but this is about beginning with Charles and Harry." The outlet also cited a former royal aide who said the monarch still misses his youngest son despite having "trust issues."

The meeting marks another moment in an on-and-off period of contact between the pair. The last reported face-to-face encounter was in February 2024, when Harry returned to the U.K. after Charles announced his cancer diagnosis, the Post noted. Harry subsequently visited the U.K. several times — including in May 2024 for the Invictus Games, in September 2024 for the WellChild Awards and in April of this year for a legal appeal over his security — but did not see his estranged relatives on those trips.

Tensions between Harry and other senior royals have persisted since his decision to step back from frontline royal duties in 2020 and his subsequent interviews, memoir and media projects, which detailed frictions within the family. In May, Harry told the BBC that his father "won't speak" to him and said he would welcome reconciliation, adding that he could not see a time when he would bring his wife and children back to the U.K. because of security and trust concerns.

The Post reported that some family members, including Prince William, remain wary of renewed contact. A former royal aide quoted by the Post said William worried about material from Harry being used publicly again, reflecting ongoing unease in parts of the family despite gestures toward rapprochement.

Officials have not released further details about the conversation or whether any follow-up meetings are planned. The meeting does, however, come amid continuing public speculation over the status of family relations and the monarch’s health, with both sides having signaled in recent months an interest in some form of reconciliation while also airing longstanding grievances.

The New York Post was the outlet reporting the meeting and the surrounding details. The royal household has not provided an official statement detailing the content of the discussion at Clarence House.
