A major electricity supply failure is causing significant disruption to train services across northwest England and the Midlands, impacting multiple rail operators. The outage, attributed to a fault at a communications center, is expected to continue until the end of Thursday.

National Rail has alerted passengers to potential hour-long delays, with many services being cancelled or rescheduled. The affected rail lines include Avanti West Coast, CrossCountry, East Midlands Railway, London Northwestern Railway, Northern, TransPennine Express, and Transport for Wales.

Passengers traveling with TransPennine Express and Northern are being advised not to travel, as some routes are completely suspended. The failure of the electricity supply has affected the communications systems for trains operating in the Greater Manchester area, the Midlands, and the North West of England, leading to the widespread operational issues.
