British Transport Police (BTP) have launched a manhunt for a man after a woman was allegedly assaulted on a Bakerloo line train.
Authorities released CCTV footage of an individual they wish to identify following the incident, which occurred around 11:40 p.m. on Saturday. According to BTP, the woman was traveling alone when a man approached her between Waterloo and Lambeth North stations.
The man allegedly exposed himself to the woman before forcibly pulling her to the ground and attempting to rape her. The woman managed to escape the train at Lambeth North and alerted station staff. The suspect remained on the train and exited at Elephant & Castle station.
Officers are investigating the man's movements, which they believe included Oxford Circus before the incident and Piccadilly Circus underground station afterward. Investigators are exploring the possibility that the suspect may be homeless.
Detective Sergeant Krishan Appannah of BTP stated that the victim is receiving support from officers. "We understand incidents of this nature are deeply concerning for the public and we're appealing to them directly to help us identify the man in the CCTV footage," Appannah said.
Anyone who recognizes the man in the images is asked to text his name to 61016, quoting reference 948 of July 11. Those with information can also contact BTP by calling 0800 40 50 40, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
