Police cordoned off a street in western Sydney on Friday morning as they investigated a report of a suspicious object. The incident occurred at an apartment building on Parkes Street in Harris Park, Parramatta.
Officers were called to the scene at approximately 11:20 a.m. after a member of the public alerted authorities. New South Wales Police confirmed they were responding to the situation. Police officers, some wearing vests, were observed securing the perimeter outside the building while residents were evacuated from the immediate area.
Hassall Street was also closed by officials as part of the operation. The Communication Workers Union's central branch, located on Parkes Street, issued a notice stating that their office phones were unattended due to the evacuation. The union informed the public that they were unable to confirm when access to their premises would be restored.
