A 28-year-old woman was found dead in her seat on a four-hour Volaris flight that landed in Chiapas, Mexico. The discovery was made by fellow passengers as they were disembarking the aircraft early Wednesday morning.
The flight, which originated in Tijuana, had proceeded without incident until the end of the journey. The passenger was unresponsive when it was her turn to leave the plane, according to Mexican outlet Diario del Sur.
Video footage captured at the airport appeared to show airline or airport personnel carrying the woman's body off the aircraft, seemingly wrapped in a sheet. An autopsy is being conducted to determine the exact cause of death, though preliminary information points to cardiorespiratory arrest.
The woman had reportedly been traveling to Chiapas to visit her family after working in the border city. Volaris has been contacted for comment.
This incident follows a similar event in August, where Rain McMillen Walmsley died on a Southwest Airlines flight bound for Los Angeles after experiencing a medical emergency onboard.
