A passenger on a Jet2 flight from Manchester to Ibiza was carried off the aircraft by police after crew members reported he refused to fasten his seatbelt and became unresponsive, according to footage taken by another traveller.
The flight had been delayed for around two hours when emergency services met the aircraft. Video filmed on board shows four police officers and a paramedic escorting the man from the plane and then carrying him to a waiting police vehicle after he resisted removal.
In the footage, the man appears to dig his heels into the pavement and fall to the ground as officers try to lead him away. Emergency responders then pick him up by his limbs and place him in the police car while he kicks and struggles. The recording was taken by a passenger who was on board the delayed service.
A fellow passenger told reporters that the man had seemed "okay" at the gate but would not fasten his seatbelt during the flight and then became unresponsive. The same passenger said the delay had left "some very angry passengers." The passenger also referenced passengers playing a Jet2 soundtrack that has recently been used in social-media posts satirising holiday mishaps.
The account in the passenger video does not include statements from police, airport authorities or Jet2. The Daily Mail has approached Jet2 for comment. No information about any injuries or any subsequent police action was provided in the footage.
Incidents involving disruptive behaviour on flights are handled by crew and, when necessary, by local police once an aircraft is on the ground. Airlines and police forces routinely advise passengers to follow crew instructions and to direct any safety concerns to cabin staff. This report is based on passenger video and statements from those on board; no official confirmation of the cause of the disturbance was released at the time of publication.
