One person was killed and four others were injured in a shooting in the Paris suburb of Trappes, French Prime Minister Sébastien Lecornu announced. Lecornu described the events as "very serious" and confirmed that a suspect has been apprehended and taken into police custody.
A police source told AFP that a man opened fire from a vehicle before being arrested in the nearby town of Coignières around 10:30 a.m. local time. French media reports suggest the number of injured may be higher, with unconfirmed accounts indicating a 12-year-old child might be among them.
The National Anti-Terrorism Prosecutor's Office has stated it is monitoring the situation.
