A group of approximately a dozen nude men streaked down a busy dining strip in Main Beach, Gold Coast, on Friday evening, surprising patrons and prompting a response from local authorities. The men were observed exiting a utility vehicle on the corner of Breaker Street and running along Tedder Avenue, a street known for its restaurants. Witnesses reported the men were shouting "go, go!" as they ran.
The incident occurred despite chilly weather conditions, with temperatures around 11 degrees Celsius (52 degrees Fahrenheit). Patrons in nearby restaurants reportedly stood up to watch the spectacle. Some onlookers speculated the event might have been part of a bachelor party.
Queensland Police have stated they are aware of the incident. However, as of Monday, no official criminal complaint had been filed. Acting Chief Superintendent Brett Jackson commented that police would investigate if it becomes known that the actions caused distress to any member of the public. He emphasized that such behavior is not condoned on the Gold Coast, particularly given its status as a tourist destination where families and children might be present. In Queensland, wilful exposure can result in a fine of approximately $345 AUD, while public nuisance charges can lead to fines exceeding $500 AUD if the conduct causes distress.
