Authorities in Nigeria are investigating a mysterious white foamy substance that has appeared on a major highway, prompting public curiosity and safety concerns. The National Environmental Standards and Regulations Enforcement Agency (Nesrea) has issued a warning urging the public to avoid the unidentified material coating a section of the busy Kaduna-Abuja Expressway.
Since the substance appeared several days ago, hundreds of motorists have been stopping to observe and photograph it, with many sharing images on social media. Some onlookers have speculated about a potential chemical spill, while others have been captivated by the unusual sight. Drivers on the route have reported hearing various explanations, including the erroneous idea that clouds had fallen from the sky.
Eyewitnesses have expressed a desire for official clarification. "I think the authorities ought to come out to explain what it is so that the confusion among people will die out," one driver told the BBC. Nesrea has stated that the substance could pose a health risk and advised against approaching it. Officials have been seen collecting samples of the foam for analysis as part of the ongoing investigation.
