Police in Northern Ireland have launched a murder inquiry after a 42-year-old man was found with serious injuries at a property in Lisburn and later died in hospital, authorities said.
Officers said the man was discovered at a Wardsborough Road address in the early hours of Monday. He received emergency medical treatment at the scene and was taken to hospital, where he subsequently died. Police said they received a call for assistance from the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service just before 01:00 BST.
A 38-year-old woman and a 37-year-old man have been arrested on suspicion of murder and remain in custody, police added. Detective Inspector Jill Angus, leading the inquiry, said the investigation was at an early stage. "Although our investigation is at an early stage, we are working to establish the circumstances surrounding the man's death and to determine exactly what happened," she said.
Detective Inspector Angus said officers would carry out further enquiries in the area and that the community should expect an increased police presence. "Cordons also remain in place," she added.
Police have not released the identities of the people involved and did not disclose the cause of the injuries. Detectives are continuing to gather evidence and speak to potential witnesses as they piece together the events that led to the man's death.
Local residents were advised to avoid the immediate area while enquiries continue. The investigation remains ongoing and police asked anyone with information to contact officers handling the case, or to provide details through established police reporting channels.
