Mother and Three Children Die in Merseyside House Fire
Investigations are ongoing into the blaze that claimed the lives of four people in Bootle.
A mother and three children died in a house fire in Bootle, Merseyside, during the early hours of Tuesday. Emergency services were called to the semi-detached property on Stone Square shortly after the fire began. Six fire engines responded to the blaze at its height.
Firefighters searched the property and discovered four victims in an upstairs bedroom, all of whom showed no signs of life, according to Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service. Another individual, who was outside the home when crews arrived, was taken to a local hospital for treatment.
A joint investigation into the cause of the fire has been launched by Merseyside Police and Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service. The investigation is expected to continue throughout Tuesday afternoon.
The Bishop of Liverpool, the Rt Rev Ruth Worsley, and the Bishop of Warrington, the Rt Rev Simon Robinson, issued a statement expressing their deep sadness. "Our thoughts and prayers are with their families and loved ones at this unimaginably difficult time," they said.
