Chaos erupted on London's Edgware Road as Morocco fans clashed with police following their team's elimination from the World Cup. The Metropolitan Police reported four arrests for violent disorder and one officer was taken to the hospital with head injuries after being struck by a glass bottle. The incidents occurred after France defeated Morocco 2-0 in the World Cup quarter-finals.

Social media footage showed flares being ignited and projectiles, including shisha pipes and chairs from a nearby restaurant, being thrown at officers. Riot police were deployed to the scene, with officers in shields and helmets seen marching along the road. The police stated that the group initially blocked traffic before escalating the situation by throwing bottles and setting off fireworks.

"We will not tolerate such disorder on our streets, or attacks on our officers," the Metropolitan Police said in a statement. "A police presence will remain in the area overnight and we will be reviewing CCTV and video footage circulating on social media to ensure all those responsible are brought to justice."

Paul Swaddle, leader of Westminster City Council, condemned the behavior, calling it "completely unacceptable" that police officers were allegedly attacked. He appealed to all fans to remain respectful throughout the tournament.

The road was reopened around 1 a.m., and no other injuries were reported. The clashes on Edgware Road occurred in the aftermath of Morocco's loss, with fans reacting to the match outcome. This incident follows similar disturbances on Edgware Road after Egypt's World Cup victory over Australia, where fans also clashed with police, climbed on buses, and brought traffic to a standstill.
