An explosion at a residential building in Monaco injured three people, two of them critically, according to French media reports.
The incident occurred around 9 p.m. local time on Rue Révérend Père Louis Frolla, near the border with France, after a bag was reportedly left outside the building.
Monaco's Minister of State Christophe Mirmand told Agence France-Presse (AFP) that it was "very likely an attack" and that police were investigating. He stated the blast was caused by an explosive device that appeared to contain bolts and pellets.
"This is the first time in history, to my knowledge, that such an act has taken place in the principality," Mirmand said, referencing his position as head of Monaco's government. Police and emergency personnel were deployed to the scene following the explosion.
