Man Seriously Injured After Entering Tiger Enclosure in England
Emergency services responded to an incident at Yorkshire Wildlife Park where a man entered a tiger enclosure, sustaining serious injuries.
A man sustained serious injuries on Saturday after entering the tiger enclosure at a wildlife park in northern England, police reported. The incident occurred at the Yorkshire Wildlife Park near Doncaster at approximately 1:35 p.m. local time.
South Yorkshire Police confirmed that the tigers remained within their enclosure and that there was no danger to the wider public. The Yorkshire Ambulance Service dispatched two ambulances, an air ambulance, and a doctor to the scene. Authorities have not yet released details regarding the victim's specific injuries.
The wildlife park issued a statement indicating they are cooperating with authorities to determine the exact circumstances of the event. "We are working closely with the authorities to ascertain exactly what happened," the park said on its website.
Yorkshire Wildlife Park opened in 2009, and its "Land of the Tigers" attraction was established in 2011. This area is a purpose-built two-acre reserve designed for endangered Amur tigers, also known as Siberian tigers. The enclosure features a 300-meter raised walkway that allows visitors to observe the tigers in a habitat designed to resemble woodlands and grasslands, complete with a waterfall pool.
