A search is underway for a passenger who fell from the cruise ship Ambition off the coast of Scotland. The man was reported overboard on Friday morning around 36 nautical miles east of Arbroath, Angus, at approximately 8:35 a.m.

The Ambassador Cruise Line vessel was sailing from Lerwick in the Shetland Islands to Dundee when the incident occurred.

A major search operation has been launched, involving HM Coastguard, RNLI lifeboats, and coastguard rescue teams from Dundee, Arbroath, and St Andrews. A commercial search-and-rescue helicopter, an airplane, and several nearby vessels are also assisting in the effort.

The Ambition has since docked in Dundee. After a ship-wide search was conducted, guests were permitted to disembark. Police Scotland confirmed they were alerted to the incident on Friday morning and that the man's next of kin has been informed.

Ambassador Cruise Line stated that stringent search-and-rescue protocols were followed and that they are collaborating with the Maritime Rescue Co-ordination Centre, The Maritime and Coastguard Agency, and Police Scotland. The company emphasized its commitment to guest and crew safety. The turnaround operation in Dundee experienced a slight delay due to the incident, but passengers scheduled to travel on the ship were advised to proceed to the port as per their embarkation schedule.
