A man allegedly kidnapped his ex-girlfriend and threw her from a 131-foot bridge in Italy before jumping to his death as police closed in, according to reports.

Federico Vella, 36, is accused of killing Lorena Isceri, 46, on Thursday, three weeks after she ended their relationship. Hours before the alleged murder, Vella posted a social media message that read, “Goodbye to everyone.”

Sources told the Italian outlet Corriere della Sera that Vella, a manager at a car rental company, waited in the garage of Isceri's Florence home. He allegedly beat her, zip-tied her legs, and placed her body in her own Audi. Vella then stole the car and drove north toward Bologna.

Isceri, who worked for a veterinary firm, was able to retrieve a phone from a backpack in the trunk. She reportedly attempted to call her mother and a friend unsuccessfully before contacting the police. While on the phone, she described her attacker and pleaded for help.

Law enforcement tracked the phone's location, leading them to a layby overlooking a viaduct where Vella had stopped. According to reports, Vella discovered Isceri with the phone when he opened the trunk. He reportedly took the phone from her, asking what she was doing. Enraged, he then allegedly grabbed Isceri and threw her from the bridge.

As officers arrived and surrounded Vella, they reportedly shouted, “What have you done?” Vella responded, “She betrayed me, she treated me badly, she attacked me,” before jumping to his death, according to the reports.

The day before the breakup, Vella had shared posts on social media reflecting on their relationship. "Some instances are so perfect that, even if you separate them, the shape of the other remains with you forever," he wrote, adding, "To you.. The woman I loved with all of me and lost to my stupidity. I’ll be yours even if I can’t be anymore."
