Man in His 80s Dies in North London House Fire; Police Investigate
A blaze destroyed the first floor and half the roof of a terraced house in Wood Green, where firefighters found a deceased man.
A man in his 80s has died following a house fire in north London. The fire, which occurred on Saturday night in a two-storey terraced house on Granville Road in Wood Green, destroyed the entire first floor and half of the roof.
Firefighters were called to the scene at 10:15 p.m. and managed to bring the blaze under control by 11:30 p.m. A woman escaped the burning building before emergency services arrived. The London Fire Brigade confirmed that the man was deceased when they found him at the scene.
Metropolitan Police officers attended to support the London Fire Brigade and London Ambulance Service. A police spokesperson stated that the man's next of kin have been informed and are being supported. Specialist officers are assisting the fire brigade in investigating the circumstances that led to the fire. The cause of the blaze remains unknown at this time.
