Michael Davies, 58, has been found guilty of murdering his wife, Tracey Davies, whom he strangled in their bed. The conviction follows his earlier admission to the manslaughter of his wife at their home in Cefn Cribwr.

During the trial, the court heard that in the months preceding the murder, Davies worked in logistics in Abu Dhabi. He described experiencing increasing depression and anxiety while living alone in a windowless flat. Concerns about repaying a £30,000 bank loan and covering home repair costs were also significant factors.

Davies stated he could not comprehend his actions, describing his mind as "broken." He testified that he had no idea what he was doing at the time and felt no connection to his hands. He recalled knowing it was wrong and that there was no plan, but he could not stop himself, remembering Tracey struggling and grabbing his arms.

Following the incident, Davies attempted to take his own life by consuming an overdose and stabbing himself in the throat and chest. A family member and paramedics discovered the couple. An inquest provisionally recorded the cause of death as pressure on the neck.

Tracey Davies was remembered by her family as an "extraordinary woman" and a "devoted mother." They emphasized that her children were her "greatest pride," and described her as a "cherished sister, a loyal friend, and a radiant presence whose laughter could light up any room." Her family added that "her legacy lives on in the love she gave and the lives she changed."
