A man has been charged with murder following the death of a mother-of-three in her Ferntree Gully home. Authorities identified the deceased as 30-year-old Irish national Annmarie O'Reilly.

Emergency services were called to a property on Ferntree Gully Road in Ferntree Gully, a suburb east of Melbourne, on Friday morning around 10 a.m. Despite their efforts, Ms. O'Reilly could not be saved.

A 45-year-old man, who was known to Ms. O'Reilly, was arrested later on Friday. He was subsequently charged with one count of murder on Saturday and appeared in Melbourne Magistrates' Court. He has been remanded and is scheduled to appear again in February.

Ms. O'Reilly's brother, Jimmy, posted a tribute on Facebook, describing her as a beautiful sister, a nice woman, and a devoted mother. "Really can't believe it," he wrote. "The nicest woman you'd meet, the best mother to her kids. May you get the best bed in Heaven my beautiful sister, love you so much. Fly high."
