A 46-year-old man has been charged with two counts of murder after his parents were found stabbed to death in their Blackburn home. Yasin Leli, of Hardman Street, is accused of killing his parents, Ismail Ahmed Yeli, 80, and Fatma Leli, 78.
Lancashire Police were called to the residence on Hardman Street around 8:20 a.m. BST on Monday. Officers discovered the couple had suffered multiple stab wounds. They were pronounced dead at the scene. The family has described the couple as "inseparable" and "heartbroken" to have lost "the oldest and most cherished members of our family."
Leli is scheduled to appear at Blackburn Magistrates Court. Police stated their thoughts remain with the family during this "distressing time." The family also expressed gratitude for the "professionalism and compassion" shown by the police, local councilors, the wider community, and the Masjid-e-Quwwatul mosque for their support.
