Police in Majorca have arrested a man accused of assaulting two tourists who refused to engage with street prostitutes. The incident occurred early Thursday morning in Playa de Palma.

According to a National Police spokesman in Palma, the suspect allegedly attacked the tourists with a belt and a bicycle lock after the women offering sexual services began touching the men without consent. The tourists refused the services and attempted to leave the area. The man, described as protecting the women, then blocked their path and demanded they hire the services. When the tourists tried to break free, the man reportedly used the belt and bicycle lock to assault one of them.

The two tourists managed to escape and encountered a National Police patrol nearby. One of the tourists had sustained injuries. Officers went to the location, identified the suspect, and found the belt and bicycle lock in his possession.

The victims were taken to a medical center and then to the police station to file a report. The suspect has been described in local reports as potentially being the sex workers' pimp, though this has not been officially confirmed by detectives. The nationalities of the victims have not been disclosed, although one local report suggested they were Norwegian nationals.
