A woman was found dead inside a home in Bacchus Marsh, northwest of Melbourne, Australia, early Wednesday morning. Emergency services were called to the Connor Street residence shortly after 3:30 a.m. local time.
A 75-year-old man was arrested at the scene and transported to a hospital. He is currently under police guard and is being treated for injuries not believed to be life-threatening.
Authorities stated that the parties are believed to be known to each other, and at this stage, police are not seeking anyone else in connection with the incident. No charges have been laid.
A crime scene has been established at the property, and homicide detectives are investigating the circumstances surrounding the woman's death. The identity of the deceased has not yet been formally released.
