Magnitude 7 Earthquake Strikes Tibet
China's Earthquake Networks Centre reports a 7.0-magnitude earthquake with an epicenter in northern Tibet, occurring just months after devastating floods impacted the region and neighboring Nepal.

A powerful 7.0-magnitude earthquake struck Tibet on Thursday, according to China's Earthquake Networks Centre (CENC). The tremor occurred around 10:30 p.m. local time, with its epicenter located in a high-altitude county in Nagqu, northern Tibet, at a depth of approximately 6.21 miles.
The earthquake's epicenter was situated roughly 250 miles from Lhasa, the Tibetan capital. CENC confirmed that the tremor was felt in the immediate vicinity of the quake's origin.
This seismic event follows a period of significant natural disasters in the region. In August, Tibet and neighboring Nepal experienced severe floods and debris flows. These events resulted in at least 43 deaths and 519 disappearances in Tibet, while Nepal reported a higher toll with at least 1,455 fatalities and 5,285 missing individuals.
