A $9.1 million luxury yacht, the Angiola II, sank in the Mediterranean Sea off the coast of Porto Cervo, Sardinia, on Tuesday, just days after its delivery to its owner. The vessel experienced engine failure, which led to a fire that damaged its seals and caused it to take on water.

Fourteen guests were on board the Angiola II when the incident occurred. They were all able to escape safely and were rescued by nearby vessels. Video footage from the scene shows the yacht on its side before sinking.

The owner, an Italian businessman, was the last person to leave the yacht. The vessel reportedly sank in approximately 23 feet of water between L’Isola dei Cappuccini and Capo Ferro on Sardinia's Emerald Coast. The Angiola II is a nearly 30-meter vessel with accommodations for 10 guests and five crew members. It is equipped with four engines and can reach speeds of 28 knots. The sunken yacht will remain under surveillance until recovery operations can commence.
