Reigning Miss Austria Lucia Sisic died unexpectedly at the age of 22, the Miss Austria organization announced Monday.
Sisic held the crown as there had not been a Miss Austria competition since she won in 2024. The organization stated that she will be remembered as a "wonderful young woman" and extended deepest sympathies to her family and friends.
While an official cause of death has not been disclosed, Sisic had spoken publicly about health challenges stemming from a congenital heart valve defect. She underwent multiple surgeries throughout her life due to this condition. In an August 2024 Instagram post, she expressed gratitude to a pediatric cardiology team, crediting them with helping her overcome difficult moments and live a fulfilling life.
Christopher Dengg, Mister Austria 2024, described Sisic's passing as a deep shock. He stated that she was like a sister to him during their time holding the titles together and that she would be greatly missed by all.
