Teams searching the rubble of a landslide in the southwestern Chinese city of Chongqing have discovered three more bodies, bringing the confirmed death toll to 11. Authorities reported Thursday that 50 people remain missing following the collapse.

No additional survivors have been detected since the landslide occurred Friday in Pengshui County, located on the outskirts of Chongqing. The county government stated that efforts to find survivors have been met with difficulty. The initial collapse buried more than 10 residential buildings and injured 10 people.

Rescue operations have been described as exceptionally challenging due to the immense volume of debris, which includes numerous large boulders. Searchers are utilizing heavy machinery and drones, and have resorted to blasting some of the larger rocks to facilitate the recovery work.

Pengshui County is situated in the southeastern part of Chongqing municipality, bordering Hubei and Guizhou provinces.
