Jaimee "Mayo" Hassos, a senior producer on KIIS FM's Kyle & Jackie O breakfast show, revealed live on air Monday that she is expecting her second child.
The announcement came moments before the program went to air, when hosts Jackie 'O' Henderson and Kyle Sandilands were preparing for the broadcast. "Just before we went on air there, Mayo was in here and we were going through a couple of things," Henderson said on air, recounting the moment. Hassos interrupted to add, "Oh by the way, guys, there is just one more thing I've got to tell you," and, at Sandilands' prompting, confirmed she was pregnant.
Henderson, 50, described the timing as a surprise, saying, "What a bombshell to drop just as we are about to go on air!" She added that the team were "happy, but we are not happy because we are going to lose you again," referring to Hassos' previous maternity leave.
Hassos, who welcomed her first child, a son named Hudson Ricky Blazquez, on Dec. 5, 2023, took time off from the show following that birth. She and her husband Sebastian were married in 2019 in New South Wales' Hunter Region. Announcing Hudson's birth in 2023, Hassos wrote that the couple's "hearts are so full." Colleagues and fellow media personalities responded to Monday's news with congratulatory messages: Jackie O led the tributes with a stream of heart emojis, and reality television personalities including Martha Kalifatidis and Brittany Hockley offered public congratulations. The Amazing Race Australia host Beau Ryan also expressed his happiness for the family.
Hassos has been a visible figure behind the scenes at KIIS FM for several years and was involved in widely reported on-air moments related to colleagues' personal milestones. In 2019, the show's hosts and production team staged a prank on Hassos shortly before her wedding, convincing her by phone that her ceremony venue had been double-booked; the reaction was recorded on a hidden camera in the KIIS FM office adjacent to the studio.
The live announcement on Monday drew immediate attention from listeners and the show's social channels. The hosts did not provide further details about Hassos' pregnancy timetable or plans for maternity leave beyond acknowledging she would likely step away from the program again. KIIS FM did not issue an additional statement about the matter at the time of the broadcast.
