A Jetstar flight en route to Sydney was halted on the runway at Whitsunday Coast Airport, also known as Proserpine Airport, on Saturday afternoon due to a medical emergency.
Flight 841 was preparing for takeoff just after 3 p.m. when the aircraft was stopped. An announcement was made over the plane's public address system requesting if a doctor was on board and to identify themselves if present.
The plane subsequently returned to the terminal. Passengers reported seeing ambulances arrive on the tarmac to attend to the situation. Those on board are currently waiting in the terminal while the patient is being assessed by emergency services.
A Jetstar spokesperson has been contacted for comment regarding the incident.
