Search teams continue to search for survivors in the partially collapsed Aeon shopping mall in Kumamoto prefecture, Kyushu island, following a magnitude 6.8 earthquake. The operator reported that the mall exploded after staff and customers had already evacuated.
A witness described seeing an explosion and smoke at the shopping mall subsequent to the earthquake. The witness also stated that the second floor of the building had collapsed.
The earthquake occurred on Tuesday at 4:27 p.m. local time, which was 7:27 a.m. GMT.
