Spanish authorities are investigating the deaths of an Irish couple found naked beside a hot tub at their rented villa in Cullera, a resort town in the Valencia region. The couple's teenage children, aged 14 and 16, discovered the bodies on Tuesday afternoon.

Following the discovery, the teenagers alerted the property owner, who then contacted emergency services. Police have launched an investigation into the cause of death, with detectives canvassing the neighborhood for witnesses and examining the scene. Investigators noted the hot tub water was unusually cloudy and have sent a sample for laboratory testing.

Local authorities have provided a social worker and a psychologist to support the traumatized teenagers, who do not speak Spanish. According to local media, the siblings were already receiving additional support prior to their parents' deaths. An uncle is reportedly traveling from Ireland to take custody of the children.

The bodies were transported to the Institute of Legal Medicine in Valencia for autopsies, which are scheduled for Wednesday morning. The presence of police and homicide detectives in the exclusive Cap Blanc neighborhood, known for its hillside terraces and panoramic bay views, has caused a stir among residents.

In a separate incident last week, an 84-year-old man was found dead in Tomares, near Seville, after reportedly being left inside a minibus in high temperatures. Temperatures in the area reached 32C (90F). Police are investigating that death, with heat exhaustion considered a possible cause, and are awaiting post-mortem results to determine if negligence was involved.
