Iran executed Shahram Sadeghi on Sunday for allegedly driving his car into police officers during anti-government protests in January, according to Iran's semi-official Tasnim news agency.

Sadeghi was accused of ramming police officers in the city of Karaj on January 8, injuring seven officers. One officer reportedly remained in a coma for three months following the incident. Mizan News reported that Sadeghi was arrested in connection with nationwide protests that began in January.

The Karaj Revolutionary Court sentenced Sadeghi to death and ordered the confiscation of his assets. Authorities described the act as an "operational action" supporting Israel, the United States, and hostile groups under Iran's espionage law. The Supreme Court upheld the death sentence, which was carried out early Sunday, according to the judiciary.
