Jordan Adlard-Rogers, 38, has been convicted of grievous bodily harm for an assault that occurred on July 13, 2024, at the Out of the Blue pub in Porthleven, Cornwall. The incident left Sebastian Winzar with a fractured leg that required a five-day hospital stay and surgery. Jurors at Truro Crown Court heard that Adlard-Rogers punched Mr. Winzar, causing him to fall and sustain the injury.
Adlard-Rogers inherited the 1,536-acre National Trust Penrose Estate in Cornwall in 2019. He proved through a DNA test that he was the son of the estate's owner, Charles Rogers, who died in August 2018 from an overdose. Adlard-Rogers was the sole heir, as Rogers' mother and brother had also passed away.
Prosecutors stated that Mr. Winzar described Adlard-Rogers as aggressive and shouting prior to the incident. CCTV footage shown in court depicted a disagreement, after which Adlard-Rogers swung his fist, causing Mr. Winzar to fall. Adlard-Rogers later claimed he punched Mr. Winzar to be left alone after being threatened.
Following his father's death, Adlard-Rogers, who had worked as a community support worker, moved onto the estate. The Rogers family has owned the land for generations and gifted it to the National Trust in 1974, securing a 1,000-year lease for the family to continue residing there. Adlard-Rogers expressed a desire to help his local community with the estate's proceeds, stating he wanted to set up a charity.
Charles Rogers reportedly struggled with drug abuse and died in his car outside his farmhouse. An inquest heard there were no suspicious circumstances surrounding his death. Adlard-Rogers mentioned that his father faced significant pressure due to his family's history and personal struggles, which may have contributed to his addiction.
Adlard-Rogers is scheduled to return to court for sentencing on December 11, with the judge indicating all sentencing options, including immediate custody, were on the table. The court was informed that Adlard-Rogers had previously suffered a broken back in 2014 after a stunt went awry.
