Indian Pilot Fought Off Co-Pilot in Attempted Terror Attack on Israel-Bound Flight

The pilot who heroically fought off his co-pilot in an apparent terror attack on a flydubai flight bound for Israel has been identified as Smit Machchhar, an Indian national.
Machchhar, a veteran pilot with close to 10,000 flight hours, is being credited with averting a potential disaster on Tuesday. According to reports, he resisted his first officer, who allegedly attempted to take control of the aircraft.
Machchhar managed to alert the crew and passengers, who then intervened in the struggle. The pilot sustained multiple stab wounds during the altercation.
Two off-duty pilots who were on board the flight assumed control of the plane and successfully landed it in Saudi Arabia. Machchhar was taken to a hospital for treatment following the incident.
